Raiders of a Dying Game.
Raiders of a Dying Planet, later Rebranded as SpaceLords, really didn’t suck all that bad from the beginning, it suffered from a mix of low player base, and the global market due to massively multiplayer games like Fortnite being free to play, if Raiders had been free from day one, perhaps we wouldn’t be where we are now, as it stands the game is in a state of undeath and one which will most likely persist until the game is sunset, there is a player base, admittedly a small one, and I don’t think they intend to go anywhere.
So is it good or bad?
The game is solid in mechanics, and even the third-person combat is handled exceptionally well, something many games do not get right in PvP focused games.
The graphical style is rather.. unique.. (so many guy butts everywhere), putting the butts aside it is very well animated, the character models are excellent, even if they mostly wear spray-painted on pants (so many guy butts everywhere.. I don’t care I said it already, it was traumatizing).
The concept of 4 vs one pvpve is excellent, with pve objectives hampered by a rogue player who is doing everything in his power to ruin your day and stop the heroes.
Good, bad and straight-up odd.
Cut scenes and voice acting are even pretty good, with a story surrounding the campaign-style missions, I felt like part of a unit, and while there is no community building in-game (due to no chat of any kind or friend/clan list), the game is still a lot of fun to play, even if it does feel rather lonely at times with no communication with your fellow raiders taking place.
Worth a play?
Yes, I would say so, the game is free to play, and the microtransactions are in no way pay to win, a refreshing change in a genre that is full of P2W F2P titles, SpaceLords stands out as one of the good guys.
I, however, suggest you start playing quickly as pending a miracle the game will not be around long term without a substantial increase in the CCU (under 200 at peak hours).
So many guy butts everywhere…
