A Beautiful Work of Fiction
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, Evolution as the origin of humanity is a work of fiction in and of itself, while there are some who champion the possibility of a proto-man race from before the advent of Adam and Eve, such as the domain of scholars and theologians to argue out.
That being said the ability for races to adapt and to show creativity is very much in line with the creationist view of origin of the species, many races (not only humans) find ways to adapt to their surroundings in effort to better their lives, look at how cats instinctively know that the airing cupboard is going to be a warm cosy cat-cave of awesomeness, how dogs will learn all sorts of pointless tricks in the hope of gaining a doggie treat, animals like humans adapt, and seeing monkeys learn that yellow berry good, blueberry bad etc. is not out of line with nature in any way.
Monkey See, Monkey Do
I love the game’s system of discovery, upon snacking on some grass, my clan ran over and began feasting, it would have been polite for them to wait for Bek (my alpha monkey) to at least give his 5 star review, BTW Bek thoroughly recommends river ferns, delicious treat, fantastic after a long day of being lost with a baby chimp on your back.
Haters gonna hate.
Slow-paced doesn’t mean poorly paced, and that is something that haters of this game need to understand, this is not a fast-paced progression game, this is the type of game where you sniff coconuts and pick fleas, and honestly its a refreshing change of pace to simply explore and find new sources of food, and at times, new cause of untold misery and death.
Not Game of the Year
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a fantastic game which offers game-play and thematic elements rarely encountered, a world removed from the driving force of humanity and human notices, its a primal, dangerous world and one which gives you plenty of room to tell your own story and write your own history, following your monkey buddies and their descendant through millions of years.
Worth a Play?
Its certainly not for everyone, but if you want a slower-paced game that offers vast exploration and discovery potential, you cannot go wrong with Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
If nothing elsewhere else can you raise an army of monkey babies?!
