Is Spiritfarer, Worth playing?

Platforms: PC Playstation 4 XBox One

Spiritfarer, is one of the most beautiful and emotional games to release in 2020, a tale of making friends, and also having the courage to let them go.

Spiritfarer, is a work of art,

Spiritfarer, is bursting with vibrant characters and stunning locations, and the care and attention by the creative team, I am particularly impressed by the overall aesthetic of Spiritfarer, it feels both artistically and spiritually like a golden era Disney animation, and we see very few games go in that direction.

A bold move and one that has paid off, currently the critic and community response to Spiritfarer, has been overwhelmingly positive and rightly so.

A game for Gamers and Non-Gamers.

The developers have summed up the feeling of Spiritfarer, perfectly by describing it as an imaginative, relaxing and cosy game, and that could not be more true.

There is no combat in Spiritfarer, but the overwhelming amount of things you can do more than makeup for it.

  • Build, manage, and improve your own ferry.
  • Farm, mine, fish, harvest, cook, weave, craft! An endless variety of activities await you!
  • Meet, take on board, care for, and forge relationships with a cast of memorable characters.
  • Run, jump, and glide your way through elegantly constructed platforming levels.
  • Explore a fantastic and imaginative world. Seek and gather resources to craft upgrades for your ship and gifts for your passengers.
  • Experience moving, emotional stories filled with unforgettable moments.
  • Unwind for hours into cosy and relaxing gameplay. Thirty hours to finish, 50+ to experience everything Spiritfarer has to offer.
  • Make the adventure your own with rich customization options for your boat, character, even the cat!
  • Play as Daffodil, the cat in optional local co-op.

Spiritfarer, is the perfect game to introduce your non-gaming friends/family to, the warm and inviting visuals, simple to pick up gameplay and enjoyable narrative make it a game that a wide range of non-gamers of all ages would enjoy.

I am deeply impressed by the trend I am seeing in 2020, for developers to break outside the norms and create some truly breathtakingly experiences, gaming has a lot more to offer as a medium than run and gun.

I am a huge fan of action games/shooters, but I always enjoy the opportunity to try something different, and Spiritfarer certainly is unique.

Spiritfarer, is one of the visually impressive and dynamic games of 2020, and I thoroughly recommend it.

Spiritfarer, for me, is Deeply Personal.

As I write this, a member of my extended family has been given less than four weeks to live, their battle with cancer has taken a heavy toll on their immediate family.

Like many in similar situations, facing separation from their loved ones, thoughts drift to what lies beyond this world.

Spiritfarer, deals with these very real thoughts and feelings in a fantastical way, while there is no ferry to take souls to their final destination.

I could not help but feel moved at the idea of it, a being whose only job is to befriend the departed and settle their affairs before moving onto what comes after.

On your 30+ hour journey as the Spiritfarer, you will meet dozens of colourful and interesting characters, learn their likes, dislikes, favourite foods, and deepest fears.

After a while, they begin almost to feel real, and you are genuinely sorry when times come to say goodbye.

The feelings of sorrow saying goodbye does not spring from any attachment to pixels, but the feelings of loved ones lost that they invoke.

I could not help but think about my grandfather and his sweet tooth, and how that dreaded day in March 2013 when I found him dead in his kitchen, or my grandmother with whom I had been playing Star Wars Jedi Power Battles (PlayStation) only 72 hours before her death in November 2000.

People you genuinely loved, you eternally miss.

The eternal hope of Reconciliation.

I am a follower of Jesus Christ, as were my Grandparents, I look forward to the day we shall be together again in his Kingdom, these words are not a platitude or a crutch, they are a very blunt reality, not all those I have lost, were in right standing with God, and they will not be part of that Kingdom, and I will never see them again.

People like to tell themselves that all good people go to heaven, yet when you consider the harsh reality few people are actually good, the lack of doing evil does not make you good, it makes you neutral.

No one is good enough in their own strength to inherit the Kingdom of God; our debt is too great, our sin too vast to ever repay.

It was this very debt that caused God to give his son Jesus, so we may be reconciled to God, be brought into right standing.

This free gift is available to everyone, but now just like when Christ walked the earth 2000 years ago, many people do not want to follow him, to learn more about what Jesus actually said, I invite you to check out FollowingJesus.net.

The vast difference between what Jesus Christ taught, and what modern-day Christianity teaches may just surprise you.

Xbox Game Pass.

Spiritfarer, is part of Xbox Game Pass, an ever-growing catalogue of over 100 games that is a great way to try a whole smorgasbord of games, including day one access to all Microsoft first party titles, for just a few dollars a month.
