"After six tumultuous years, Realm Royale Reforged’s journey is finally coming to an end."
As we covered previously, Realm Royale Reforged has managed to remain fairly active due to its robust cross-platform support and the presence of bots. However, bots do not pay the bills, and with Hi-Rez being forced to cut corners after a series of unsuccessful releases and stagnated growth of its evergreen titles (Paladins and Smite), Realm Royale Reforged, Divine Knockout, and Rogue Company are all excellent candidates for closure.
As of the time of writing this article, both Realm Royale Reforged and Divine Knockout have already been confirmed to shut down in February 2025, and unless something changes soon, I would imagine Rogue Company will join them in the not-too-distant future.
No, Realm Royale Reforged was never a success. It was only made to try and cash in on Fortnite’s success, hoping to attract PC players who refuse to play on any launcher other than Steam or who hold a misplaced grudge against Epic Games due to a prolonged hate campaign by Steam extremists and members of various toxic subreddits.
While Realm Royale Reforged was not a bad game, and I really liked my time with it, ultimately, it was a worse version of Fortnite. It had fewer players, less content, and an uncertain future, all of which contributed to its eventual downfall.
Realm Royale Reforged is over, and anyone who has been paying attention saw this coming; as we highlighted in our earlier review, it had been circling the drain for some time, and this outcome has been pretty much unavoidable since the Reforged update failed to attract enough players to ensure ongoing development.
