"The main problem with DAVY x JONES is that it is an ok game, in a year overflowing with amazing games, a poor omen in most years, and a death sentence in 2025."
I must preface this by saying I do not wish to sound overly harsh in this review, however after spending time with DAVY x JONES, I am struggling to see who would choose to play it over similar titles that are already on the market.
While it is very pretty to look at graphically, aesthetically its a mixed bag, and the enemy character models in particular are very lower quality and poorly designed.
At first I wondered if the studio was perhaps from China, where “fleshy skeletons” are used to avoid offending local sensibilities, and yet that is not the case, with the game having been developed and published by The Parasight, a polish game development studio.
With that In mind, the design if enemy character models is even more baffling, they appear to be of a drastically lower quality than many other assets in the game, such as Davy Jones’ floating head which is by far the highest quality asset in game, outside of the player’s weapons.
While open world games used to be a novelty, there are so many of them on the market right now, that only the best and most innovative survive and frankly, DAVY x JONES is neither, and its profanity laden poorly written dialogue does nothing to elevate it.
While combat is decent, it feels weightless and unimpactful, while it is early days, and DAVY x JONES could improve, it would take a lot more than simple improvement, to make DAVY x JONES the type of game I would choose to play it over almost every other similarly priced title released in 2025.
The story of Davy Jones and his locker is an interesting one, an evil sea devil who pulls wicked souls down into the depth, for mutiny, blasphemy, and generally poor nautical behaviour on the seven seas, and over time this legend has grown to incorporate other myths, such as that of the Flying Dutchmen, a ship crewed by the damned.
It is all incredibly interesting, a very good tale, and ultimately a load of nonsense, but the topic of what happens to our souls after we die is certainly worth deeper consideration.
Since mankind’s earliest days, a desire to know what happens after death as captivated us as a species, and that fascination has lead to many belief systems about ways to avoid ending up somewhere ghastly, and yet almost everyone of these beliefs makes one fatal mistake, the assumption that your good people go to heaven and bad people go to hell, a dangerous simplification of life’s greatest danger.
Unfortunately mainstream Christianity has done little to shed light on this issue, and in many cases has worsened the confusion by stating that behaviour does not matter at all, and that saying a few words will secure your soul for all time.
Both of these extremes are dangerous, and have ushered untold millions to eternal damnation.
Jesus Christ never said “Just say this prayer and you will be saved“, he also never said “Just act a certain way and you will be saved“, what he did say however is even more shocking.
Jesus Christ never claimed to be A Way to heaven, he outrighted stated he is The Only Way to the Father (God).
This statement is so grandiose, so all encompassing that it would be one of the most egotistical and self celebratory statements uttered in history if not for one simple truth,. he was speaking the truth, and the truth no matter how grand is never egotistical, it simply it what it is.
Jesus tells his followers to:
No one can be saved outside of Jesus, he is the only way to the father, without him people cannot even see the Kingdom of God, let alone abide in it.
When Jesus Told us to abide in him, he means that to remain “saved” to remain on the right track, and to end up in heaven we must not only accept him as our saviour, but follow him as our Lord, only then can we bear the fruit that endures, the fruit that matters for eternal life.
When judgement day comes, there will be no sea devils and lockers, but there will be a judgement, and Jesus has already forewarned us by which standard we will be judged, it will be his words, his teachings, that will judge all of man kind, separating the good from the bad.
The words of Jesus are eternal and true, and it is those words which will judge us, we are called to believe, follow and abide in him through his words.
People who think their works alone will get them into heaven will be in for a rude awakening, as Jesus is the only way to make those good deeds matter.
At the same time Christians who think they can say a prayer and bear no fruit (good works/deeds) will be in for a similar rude awakening, as for a Christian to bear no good fruit, it means they never abided in Jesus truly, they refused to let his goodness and truth manifest in their lives.
Christians who do not bear good fruit, have never made Jesus Christ their Lord, they are Christians in name only, and Jesus already told us what awaits those who live and act in such a manner on judgment day.
While you may have been raised to believe “all good people go to heaven” or “saying a prayer is enough“, that is simply not true, and only by believing in, following and abiding in Jesus Christ can you be saved.

I do not wish to be overly harsh, but after playing DAVY x JONES for the purpose of this review I had to ask myself a very important question, Would I have played it as much as I have i was not reviewing it, and to be honesty the answer is no.
While its pretty to look at, performance is unstable, combat is lacklustre, and character models are simply unattractive, and I need to be perfectly honest, If I had purchased it, I would have been submitting a refund request, as its just not the type of game I would choose to play, when there are so many better options available.
While it offers an interesting take on sin, redemption and atonement, ultimately there are much better games out there at similar price points, and for that reason I cannot recommend it.
We found Davy X Jones to be a mediocre game, meaning that while it has some redeeming qualities, it's held back by noticeable flaws that prevent it from being truly enjoyable.
Note: This title is in Early Access, meaning it is publicly available but still evolving. The rating shown reflects its current state and may change as development continues.
"Yaga is a charming 2D action role-playing game with a poetic narrative that shifts based on player actions and choices, while the haunting soundtrack, poetic dialogue, and disturbing artwork help set Yaga apart in an overcrowded genre, they may not appeal to everyone and in some cases may cause players to look elsewhere."
"Titanium Hound could have been a good game, but the developer's assistance on uniquely bad mechanics makes it impossible for me to recommend it to anyone, let alone fans of the genre."
"9Lives Arena is one of the worst games I have ever played and is a terrible example of what a good blockchain game could be."
