"Fracture Field is one of the best, if not the very best, idle game on PC right now, and I cannot wait to see what the developers have in store for it in the weeks and months ahead."
I must preface this by saying that idle management games are not for everyone, and while I can see their appeal, especially when they have great automation like in titles such as Adventure Capitalist and Fracture Field, in essence idle management games do not offer players much in the way of stimulation, dopamine by the truckload sure, but actual interactivity is at a minimum.
Which is why I really found Fracture Field refreshing, while it is very much an idle game at its core, there were an abundance of semi persistent and persistent upgrades for players to invest in, which not only improve resource production, but at times introduce new quality of life features that not only aid in resource production and progression, but make Fracture Field feel “broken” at times in the very best ways.
Fracture Field offers players two ways to reset their progression in exchange for currency which can be used to purchase persistent and semi persistent upgrades.
World Fracture allows players to reset back to tier 1 in exchange for accessing the Core Fragments which can be spent on improving almost every aspect of the game and are immensely powerful, however these improvements (with a few exceptions such as the foreman and droid hub upgrades) reset with each Reality Shatter, at least until certain upgrades are acquired.
Reality Shatters allow players to reset all upgrades and resources in exchange for Reality Shards, which in turn can be used to purchase permanent upgrades, such as increased resource production, droid capacity and the ability to retain a percentage of their world fracture upgrades with each subsequent reality shatter.
Most excitingly is the fact that World Fracture and Reality Shatter upgrades work in tandem, meaning all World Fracture multipliers and upgrades are further enhanced by their Reality Shatter counterparts, allowing players to reach genuinely absurd levels of resource generation and progression once they have enough Reality Shards invested in critical upgrades.
I must admit, I loved watching resources flood in as my drone fleet zoomed around the screen, watching my resource silos fill in seconds with more resources than I could have gathered in multiple hours just a few Reality Shatters (resets) ago.
I know Fracture Field is manipulating my emotions, I know that these numbers mean nothing, and yet I also know that I had a great time watching these meaningless numbers increase.
While I cannot recommend playing Fracture Field like an actual game, as in sitting and watching it for hours like a bored goldfish, as an AFK game, while doing something else (such as working from home or studying) Fracture Field is a perfect zero calorie hit of dopamine.
While eating chocolate would be much tastier, Fracture Field is far less fattening.
Fracture Field is a management game developed and published by Type-Ten, it released on 20 April 2026, and is available exclusively on PC.
Fracture Field supports the following peripherals:
Fracture Field is unrated and contains no offensive content.
I really enjoyed my time with Fracture Field, the developers have created a great game and have responded well to feedback, which has resulted in some great improvements like the option to disable particle effects which lower performance during the latter stages of each game, and the removal of two achievements which required players to play for 100 and 100 respectively, far too long for a game which most players will complete in around 30-40 hours, depending how much of that time they play AFK, and how actively they micromanage World Fracture and Reality Shatters in the mid to late stages of the game.
Ultimately Fracture Field is a fantastic idle game and one I heartily recommend for fans of the genre.
We found Fracture Field to be a good game, meaning it is likely to be enjoyable for most players, despite having a few areas that could be improved upon.
"While Factorio looks and sounds like something that would only excite the nerdiest of gamers, it has a lot to offer gamers from all walks of life and is one of the most polished and successful titles to exit the Steam Early Access program."
"Speed Crew is a decent attempt at turning Overcooked into a genre, but it lacks the charm and polish that made Overcooked beloved by millions."
"While Ooblets successfully combines the best parts of the Harvest Moon and Pokemon franchises, its overtly cutesy aesthetic and occasionally cringe-inducing dialogue will be a dealbreaker for some."
